Deus Ex’s developer Eidos Montreal has officially announced over Twitter that the latest in the Deus Ex series - Mankind Divided - will be delayed until August 23rd, 2016. Titled “No Compromise on Quality,” the official page for the Deus Ex Universe explains in a blog post that the game:

A statement like this makes me wonder: what exactly did they find while playing through the game that put it back almost six entire months? Did they find it boring? Are they holding themselves up to their own impossible expectations? Did something go horribly wrong? What could be so bad that they don’t want to release on schedule and “compromise on quality”?

We’re confident and proud of the game so far. However, as we are now playing through the game in full we can see that it will require more time in post-production for tuning, iterations, and refinement to meet our high standards. In order to achieve this, we need to move the release of the game to August 23rd, 2016.

We are sorry to disappoint you with this news, and also thank you for all of your support and comments. This game is a huge part of our lives, and we don’t want to compromise on its quality."

I guess we might never know. For now, Deus Ex fans will just have to hold Eidos-Montreal to their word and hold out for the final release.
