If you were hoping for a gun to out-Scout the Dead Man’s Tale, this isn’t it, but the new Destiny 2 Hung Jury does come with a solid collection of perks for both PvE and PvP. It might not be the world-beater from the old days, but with the right rolls, including its god rolls, it’s perfectly usable, and even preferable, in some higher-tier content.
How to Get the Hung Jury SR4
There is no easy way to farm the Hung Jury, as it’s locked behind the Nightfall: The Ordeal activity, and you won’t be getting many Hung Jury drops in anything less than Legend difficulty. Additionally, it won’t be obtainable every week, as Nightfall weapon availability rotates on a three-week cadence.
The most recent Hung Jury Nightfall was between May 18-25, so we won’t be seeing it drop again for at least a couple of weeks. If you want to know what to expect of your Nightfall loot, there a few ways to check:
Niris. tv puts out a weekly reset infographic every Tuesday with all the info you need to know about core content in Destiny 2. The Charlemagne Discord bot has a Weekly Reset function that notes the weekly NIghtfall reward. The Destiny Reddit has a weekly reset megathread every week on Tuesday as well.
Hung Jury SR4 PvE God Rolls
Until Scout Rifles get some serious love in PvP, you’ll be using them most often in non-Crucible activities. The best Destiny 2 Hung Jury PvE god rolls for taking on the enemies of humanity are:
Barrel
Corkscrew Rifling. This perk is pretty universal because it buffs three stats: Range, Stability, and Handling. Even though Scouts are already built for longer-range engagements, but a little more never hurt. The Stability and Handling buffs, while relatively minor, are always appreciated.
Magazine
Tactical Mag or Accurized Rounds. The former offers an additional buff to Stability while also increasing Reload Speed and Magazine size, complementing Corkscrew Rifling nicely. The latter is for those Guardians who want to fight in only the longest possible engagements.
Slot 3 Trait
Rapid Hit or Subsistence. The former makes the weapon easier to handle and reload quicker, making it easier to stay on target and in the fight. The latter reloads the weapon from reserves with every kill, keeping you firing into a wave of trash mobs as long as you’re accurate.
Slot 4 Trait
Firefly or Explosive Payload. The former causes a large explosion on critical kills and increases reload speed nearly equalling Outlaw. The latter is a straight damage bonus of up to 15%.
Hung Jury SR4 PvP God Rolls
Scout Rifles haven’t been meta in Destiny 2 PvP since early in its first year, but Dead Man’s Tale made a convincing case for putting them back in rotation. The Hung Jury isn’t DMT — it’s not even close — but it can still put up a fair fight with the right perks. They are:
Barrel
Same as PvE: Corkscrew Rifling.
Magazine
Same as PvE: Tactical Mag or Accurized Rounds.
Slot 3 Trait
Surplus or Rapid Hit. The former increases Handling, Reload Speed, and Stability for each of your charged abilities, so Melee, Grenade, and Well/Dodge/Wall. The effect is notable with even one ability ready, but your gun will be quite different with three abilities charged. Rapid Hit as PvE.
Slot 4 Trait
Box Breathing and Explosive Payload. The former, which activates after a few seconds of aiming down sights. When BB is up, you can three-tap enemy Guardians from a significant range. Explosive Payload in PvP is not only a damage buff, but it also causes significant flinch. Snipers will probably still headshot you mid-fight, but it can help.
With this all in mind, you should be able to get some Destiny 2 Hung Jury god rolls in fairly quick order, barring the time you have to wait for it to show back up in Nightfall: The Ordeal (with the difficulty of that activity being the only big hurdle).
