How to Unlock Trials of the Nine in Destiny 2
Although you might want to get started right away, you can’t just hop into the Trials of the Nine event when it is available – there are a few things you need to do first:
Complete the Campaign Complete Crucible Quests Complete the Weekly Call to Arms Crucible milestone at least once Reach light level 260+
All of these steps must be completed with every character you want to take into the Trials.
What is Trials of the Nine?
Trials of the Nine is a weekly Crucible event that starts on Friday and ends on the weekly reset – Tuesday. You can get power and exclusive gear by participating, but you need to go in with a team – no solo queues for this one.
Here are the changes from the original Destiny:
Flawless is 7 Wins in a Row
The Trials will track your wins and losses, for a total of 7 wins or 10 matches –whichever comes first. If you get 7 wins in a row, you will go “flawless” and get the best Trials of the Nine rewards.
You won’t need to purchase a pass like in the original Destiny because it automatically records in Destiny 2.
No Level Advantage, Loadout Locked
In Destiny 2, there is no level advantage in Trials of the Nine, so you can use whatever gear you want.
However, your loadout – which are your guns, armor, and subclass choices – are locked as soon as you find a match. This means you can’t switch anything out during the Trials.
Trials of the Nine Rewards
After your first Trials win, you will have access to the Spire. Here you can turn in the rep tokens you get from playing matches and rank up with The Emissary.
You will unlock a new platform at 3, 5, and 7 wins.
3 wins – Gives a free Trials weapon. 5 wins – Gives an engram that gives two pieces of gear. 7 wins (not flawless) – Choice of three weapons. 7 wins (flawless) – Flawless loot, Flawless emblem, and an aura.
If you are in a clan, you can also unlock an extra engram for the whole clan if you get 7 wins on a single ticket – regardless of how many losses.
Once you unlock the spire and turn in your rep tokens, you can hover over the engram reward to preview the gear you can get. This will show you every piece of gear and the perks each piece has.
