Of course, for players like me, who are obsessed with documenting beautiful landscapes and taking screenshotting various hijinks in games like Ghost of Tsushima, Demon’s Souls will, thankfully, have a photo mode.

The inclusion of photo mode was confirmed today in a PlayStation Blog post by Gavin Moore, Creative Director, SIE Worldwide Studios External Development. Sony only shared a few screens of it in action, but it looks similar to what’s found in other games, such as The Last of Us 2 and God of War.

The camera will move up and down and zoom in and out, while the GUI can be hidden. Options for dialing in depth of field, creating vignettes, and applying emotes will be available, though we don’t know how many emotes there will be just yet.

Moore added that film grain and blur can also be added, and that players will be able to apply any photo mode filters to the game itself.

The blog post also unveiled the character creation tool for Demon’s Souls, which not only allows for “16 million permutations,” according to Moore, but it also lets players finally add facial hair to their avatars (yes, I’m excited about that.). It’s also the first look fans have had at the game’s diverse character models. There’s more about it here.

By the way, all filters are also available outside of Photo Mode during ordinary gameplay, including one designed to tune brightness, contrast and color levels to closely resemble those of the original PS3 game, for those who may prefer that classic look.

Demon’s Souls will launch for the PlayStation 5 on November 12 (U.S.) and November 19 (E.U.). Stay tuned for my full review of the game in the coming weeks, and be sure to keep an eye on our guides hub for tips, tricks, and strategies (even if there will be ~180 help videos in the game at launch).
